I Love A Good Ghost Story
I’ve got a bit of a ghosty vibe going on right now, and I think it might be my haunted decor theme for the Halloween season.
I’m more haunted mansion than horror, so ghosts are to be expected. But while I am adding some new spirits to the mix – a few pieces, like these ghostly hands, are old friends.
Several years ago, I was inspired to create a packing tape ghost. So, armed with cling wrap, a plethora of packing tape, and a life-size mannequin, I wrapped until I could wrap no more to bring this ghostly girl to life. I even did her fingers which, I admit, was a bit of pain.
(I really need to get a better picture of the ghostly girl.)
More current projects that feature unearthly apparitions, such as haunted candles and sinister silhouettes, have found their home on this blog.
But, as much as I love ghoulish ghosts, I also have an affection for the spooky cute. After all, I did grow up with Casper, the Friendly Ghost.
So today, for the second of three swags I’m creating to welcome in Halloween 2022, I have a genial glitter ghost in a pint-size version.

Spooky Cute Mini Ghost Garland
Ok, let’s get started.
First, grab some glitter cardstock. I’m using a Glitter Pastels Mat Stack that I picked up at JoAnn’s. It’s the ideal size for these small specters, but any glitter cardstock will do.
We will also need some ribbon or mini brads, and scissors or a cutting machine.
Stop by the Haunted Library and download the free cut files. Select the SVG for machine cutting or the PDF for hand-cutting.
The files include the two sizes of ghosts, mini at 4″ high and tiny at 3″ high, as well as left facing and right facing options.
First, cut out your ghosties. You can customize your garland to any length you like by cutting more or fewer ghosts.
I’m using the Cricut Maker to cut my ghosts but, you may want to grab a hole punch for the holes if you are cutting by hand.
Next, connect the ghosts by stringing ribbon or mini brads through the holes in their hands.
Finally, add a loop to each end ghost for hanging.
And your glitter ghouls are ready to haunt it up!
Perfectly sized for small spaces (apartments, dorms, etc.) – these little specters of sparkle can tuck into almost any nook you wish to haunt.
Extra! Extra!
If you want to add a little more spookiness to your spirits, try these additions.
- Add a tiny bit of iridescent cellophane or sheer fabric behind the ghost eyes to give an ethereal effect.
- Blend in the brads. Cut or punch a small circle from the matching cardstock and glue to cover.
