When the occasion calls for a costume, one of the first and best places to search for something to wear is in your closet. Case in point – the little black dress.
What costume can I make with a LBD (little black dress)? I’m so glad you asked!

I’ve been working on some ideas, and I’ve got one to show you today.
The kitty cat is one of the most popular costumes, and year after year, it is a go-to for women and girls. While simply adding a black tail and some ears will do the trick, let’s kick it up a notch.
I opted for a fun and fanciful kitty, so I grabbed my pink leopard print faux fur and crafted a cape using Simplicity 9008 (View C, sans collar). Then, for an even more elegant look, I added a black lining to the cape.

Next, I took the pattern for our Petite Kitty Ears, enlarged them, and added them to a fur-covered headband.

But, what about a tail? I decided for this piece, I needed to go big or go home, so I created two versions of an oversized tail. One option is more fantasy-style, and one is more traditional.

Throw on some strappy sandals, and you are, pardon the pun, the cat’s meow!
No little black dress? No problem. This set would also work well with jeans or leggings and a little black tee.
Best of all, the free PDF of both tails is available in the Haunted Library.

Until next time, stay in character.
