You can pull off a fabulous and fancy flapper headband in 5 minutes with just a few supplies.

Make a flapper headband in 5 minutes?
Is that even possible?
Absolutely!
Impossibly Possible
After nearly 20 years running an online costume shop, I’ve learned a thing or two.
One – Halloween costume pieces are usually constructed using the easiest and most economical methods.
Two- even the smallest, most inexpensive accessory can make a costume.
One such item in my shop was a sequined, flapper headband with a single feather. It fit most anyone, and sold consistently in the shop year after year.
And, you know what? It’s construction is super simple.
Let's Make A 5 Minute Flapper Headband
We will need:
Stretch sequin trim, approximately 1.5″ wide
Ostrich feather approximately 6-8″ high
Hot glue
Scissors
Dressmaker’s tape or ruler

First, stretch the sequin trim around your head to determine the length.
You’ll want a snug fit plus allow an inch for overlap.
I used 17″ of trim and my head measures about 21″ around.
Once you’ve determine the length, cut the trim.

Next, fold one end over on itself by about 5/8″ and glue.

Overlap end with raw edge on top of folded end and secure with glue.

Now, determine feather placement.
The feather can be worn at any point along headband (left side, right side or front). Just be sure to position your seam at the back of your head prior to gluing feather.
Glue the feather to the inside of the band.

That’s all there is to it!
Add a little black dress, gloves, some pearls, and you’re ready to Charleston.
