Halloween Place Cards and Party Picks

Party Ghoul
I was flipping through some pics today reminiscing of Halloween parties of old.
For 15 consecutive years, we hosted these events, complete with costumes, entertainment, games, and food.
But, as everyone’s kiddos grew older, we found ourselves busy traveling to their events, and in 2009 we hosted our last big bash.
We’ve had a few smaller ghoulish gatherings over the years since, and though I miss the energy of the large party, I prefer a more low-key event these days.
One thing, however, remains the same. The party has to have a theme.
When it comes to parties, I love themes. Themes simplify nearly every aspect of party planning. What to serve, what to wear, what to use for decor – themes streamline the process.
And, speaking of themes, I’m on a bit of a tombstone kick. (ICYMI – see the Halloween Tombstone Portraits.) So I’ve got some more glorious graveyard-esque pieces for your party.
Add A Little Eek To Your Chic
But first, tell me. Would you like to make a big impact with little effort and only a few supplies?
Do you like to impress your guests while keeping things simple and stress-free on your end?
I thought so.
Today I have two quick and easy projects to help you tastefully execute decor perfectly themed to a dinner to die for – Halloween Place Cards and Halloween Party Picks, tombstone style.
Take A Seat
Gather your scissors or cutting machine, a glue stick, some cardstock, and a photo of each guest, and let’s get started.
First, grab the free Halloween Place Card & Party Pics Tombstone files. You can find both the SVG and PDF versions in the Haunted Library. (Choose from two epitaphs – BOO or RIP.)
Note: These are smaller and more intricate pieces, so I suggest using a cutting machine if possible.
Alternatively, when cutting by hand, you can skip cutting out the epitaph (BOO or RIP) and write your own.
To begin, size, print, and cut your photo using the included template.
Add glue to the interior of the tombstone around the oval frame and attach the photo.
Next, attach the epitaph background by adding glue around the wording (BOO or RIP).
If you like, add the interior letter cut-outs.
Here’s an easy way to get them into the correct position.
With the background in place, add the cut-out letters to the epitaph (see letter B in BOO, for example).
Then, apply glue to the interior of the letters and put them into place (see first O in BOO, for example).
Finally, remove the letter (see final O in BOO, for example).
Now your Halloween place cards are complete!
Your guests will have no trouble finding their haunted place of honor at the table.
These bat napkins are fangtastic and so simple to create.
Slip Sliding Away
Now, if you find that your card prefers to slide rather than stand up – I have the fix.
Glue a piece of scrap ribbon or a thin strip of cardstock to the inside bottom of each tent card.
No more sliding!
What's What?
Should your soiree call for a charmed charcuterie board or a bewitching buffet, you may want to help your guests know what’s on the menu. These simple Halloween party picks should do the trick.
Drop by the Haunted Library and download the free Halloween Place Card & Party Pics Tombstone files in SVG or PDF.
Gather some cardstock, toothpicks, a glue stick, a pencil or marker, and tape. You will also need scissors or a cutting machine.
Cut out the tombstone tent cards.
Using a marker or pencil, write your label on the front of the tombstone. You can also write on the back for a two-sided party pick label.
Tape a toothpick to the inside of the tombstone near the center.
I like to position about 1/3 of the toothpick inside the tent card, leaving the remainder available to secure onto the charcuterie board or buffet.
Next, add glue to the entire interior of the tombstone. Be sure to cover the tape holding the toothpick with glue as well.
Fold the tent card onto itself and firmly press the sides together.
Viola! Now you have custom Halloween party picks.
