Nothing sets the mysterious mood like the soft glow cast by a flickering candle. But, even when unlit, a candle in a haunted house suggests that something a little wicked this way comes. So, to make sure that your haunt isn’t without a few terrifying tapers, I have a quick and easy, last-minute hack for you today.Â

Â
This project uses inexpensive supplies and is a nearly effortless way to add some spooktacular style to your Halloween decor.
So, let’s get started.
We will need:
- White candles of your choosing
- Black or red candle for dripping
- Lighter
- Parchment paperÂ
If using taper candles also include:
- Bowl filled with sand or an inexpensive glass candle holderÂ

I grabbed a pack of one dozen plain white tapered candles for this project, but you can use any size or color you wish. My usual preference is to use ivory or off-white candles, but I wanted these to have high contrast.
To protect your work surface, cover it with parchment paper and set your white candles on top.
For tapers, plant your candles in a bowl filled with sand to keep them upright. Note: You can use a candle holder as an alternative to the sand but be aware that colored wax will get onto the holder.

Light your drip candle and, tipping it over the white candles, drip the wax over the tops and sides. Be careful here; we want creepy candles, not burnt fingers.

I find that it’s easier and provides more coverage if I tilt my candles.

Once you have the look you want, let the wax cool before handling.
And, now your candles are ready to cast their ghostly glow and give your haunted decor a spine-tingling touch.

Until next time, happy haunting.
Bonus Creepy Candles:

If you’re short on time or don’t have any drip candles, just light your candle and let it drip naturally. Note: avoid dripless candles for this project.
