Halloween Confetti Table Scatters

I love to plan for the holidays. When we were hosting our annual Halloween party, my mind was already churning out ideas for the following year before the current one was over.
I would prepare a scavenger hunt, pick a theme, design a costume, and start gathering decor before the new year.
No matter how much prepping I did, there would always be some little something I wanted to add at the last minute that had me racing the clock.
Do you have last-minute holes to fill with little to no time to pull them together, or is it just me?
One small treat in my bag of tricks is table scatters or confetti. These small holiday-themed plastic or paper bits are a quick and easy last-minute decorating solution.
Sprinkle confetti through your tablescape, around the base of a candle, or anywhere that needs a spooky touch.
Ok, but what if you don’t have any confetti? No worries; I’ll show you how easy it is to make your own, with and without a cutting machine.
So, let’s get started.
Let's Make Last-Minute Halloween Confetti Table Scatter
For this project, we will need:
Colored tissue paper (for punch version)
Colored scrapbook paper or cardstock
Decorative Halloween or circle punches (for punch version)
Cutting machine such as the Cricut Maker
We will also need the Simple Halloween Icons SVG file from the Haunted Library.
Crazy For Confetti
The first and fastest way to make a lot of confetti is by using a cutting machine. If this is not an option, scroll down to an alternate version.
The Simple Halloween Icons file contains several options. Choose one of the prepopulated files to cut each Halloween icon from a different color.
You can select from Spider, Jack O’Lantern, Ghost, Tombstone, Scaredy Cat, Coffin, Skull, or Bat.
Note that the prepopulated icons will be cut at approximately 1″ on their longest side.
The files are arranged and ready to cut to help you get your Halloween confetti cut faster.
Choose your cardstock or scrapbook paper, then select the file for your paper size. Choose from 8.5″ x 11″ or 12″ x 12″.
Upload the file into your design software. I’m using Cricut Design Space.
Select the icons and, keeping them grouped, click Attach.
If you prefer not to use the prepopulated files, you can make your own combination by selecting the Icon Assortment file, which you can arrange and resize as desired.
Cut out your Halloween icons using the appropriate setting for the material you are using.
With this amount of cutting and tiny details, sometimes the cuts may not be perfectly clean.
To save time and frustration during your 11th-hour dash, check the cut before unloading the mat and do a second pass if needed.
Sprinkle your spooky scatters wherever you need some haunted touches.
Punch It Out
No cutting machine? No worries. You can still conjure up some quick Halloween confetti.
Grab some tissue paper, scrapbook paper, cardstock, and punches. You can use Halloween icon punches or a simple circle punch. Even a hole punch will work in a pinch.

Punch out your icons.
I’m using a heavy glitter cardstock but, depending on the thickness of your paper and the strength of your punch, you may be able to stack sheets together, allowing you to make confetti faster.
To make confetti from tissue paper, open up the paper until you have about 10-15 layers.
A single layer of tissue paper will yield a poor cut, so stack and cut as many layers as your punch can cut cleanly.
A circle or hole punch works well for this type of confetti.
