Halloween Coffin Favor Boxes

Like most Fall fanatics, I love it when summer changes to Autumn. I love the cooler air, the colorful foliage, and the sight of pumpkins everywhere.
I love it when stores are decked out in orange and black and the shelves are filled with spooky wares.
And I really love seeing ideas for Halloween treats, parties, and decorations in magazines at the checkout – so much so that I’m often tempted to grab a few issues to peruse all the haunted goodies.
So many fun creations – so little time!
In order to work through the plethora of ideas already on my list, as well as those I know are yet to come, I’m starting early. If I wait until the Halloween season officially kicks off, I will be knee-deep in other obligations, which will hinder my frightful fun.
High-Spirited Haunting
Today’s project is a coffin favor box. These boxes are perfect for trick-or-treaters or as a party favor for guests at your haunted soiree. Fill them with candy or other tempting treats, and wow the recipients with your clever creativity.
Let’s get started.
Let's Make Halloween COFFIN Favor Boxes
For this project, we will need:
Black cardstock – medium to heavy weight
Cutting machine (I’m using the Cricut Maker) or finger blade or scissors
Glitter cardstock
Adhesive
We will also need the Coffin Favor Box with Topper file from the Haunted Library. Select the PDF file to cut by hand* or the SVG file for using a cutting machine.
The file includes the coffin box and five toppers: scaredy cat, spider web, raven, flying bats, and RIP tombstone.

A Bone-ified Box
To begin, import the file into your design software. I’m using Cricut Design Space.
Resize the box and toppers as desired.
My box measures 8.167″ wide by 10.223″ high, and the toppers are 2.570″ by 4.742″.
This size box will fit onto an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of cardstock.
By default, Cricut Design Space will designate each box element as a Basic Cut.
To ensure proper cutting and scoring, change the operation of each score line from Basic Cut to Score.
Next, select all the project elements (all score lines and coffin box) and click Attach.
Now, load your machine with the cutting blade and scoring tool and cut the box from cardstock.
Fold the box along the score lines and assemble.
Eerie Elegance Addition
To decorate the coffin favor boxes, cut the toppers from glitter cardstock and glue them to the top of the coffins.
The glitter toppers give these coffin favor boxes an eerie elegance – the perfect spooky statement for any haunted happening.
