I’ve been accused of being a bit extra, and while I don’t find that to be the case on the daily, when it comes to Halloween and party decor, I am guilty.
I appreciate the little touches that can transform something ordinary into something extraordinary.
I love bringing a vision into reality and exploring all the options, which is why there are normally multiple examples within each project on this blog. I can’t help myself.
I also like to sprinkle in a modicum of mystery whenever possible. Even if no one will see or appreciate it, I can’t help but sneak in the unexpected.
Yep, I can be a bit extra.
Today’s project is tiny in size but makes a mighty impression when added to a gift tag, bookmark, treat sack, stuffie, or anything you want to enhance with a bit of “extra.”
These teeny framed Halloween charms are quick, inexpensive, and a fun way to spend time crafting some creepy curiosities.
Besides, why settle for plain and simple when you can have add tassels and charms?
For this project, we will need:
Tiny frames – I grabbed mine from the jewelry section at Hobby Lobby
Printer
Cardstock
Scissors
Colored pencils (optional)
We will also need the Charmed Vintage Collection PDF from the Haunted Library.
Before diving in, we need to gather a few small frames.
Since I plan to create charms for small objects such as gift tags and bookmarks, I wanted them to be super tiny, and I found a nice selection at Hobby Lobby.
First are these simple, tiny square frames, which are very inexpensive and are also available in an oval shape.
This ornate assortment caught my eye and will be a nice compliment to the vintage graphics.
While not tiny, I also decided to grab this small brooch frame.
Now that we have our frames, we can pull this project together very quickly.
Download the Charmed Vintage Collection and open it with your favorite PDF reader (Adobe, FoxIt, etc.).
Set the page to print at Actual Size and print onto white cardstock.
The printout includes seven graphics in five sizes: 3/8 inch, 5/8 inch, 1 inch, 1 1/4 inch, and 1 1/2 inch.
If you want your graphics to have color, now is the time to break out those colored pencils.
I like using PrismaColor Pencils to add a soft, subtle tint to the images.
After you remove the frames from the packaging, slip out the photo paper insert to use as a template.
Place your frame over the images to see which best fits.
Place the template over your selected image and trace around it.
Cut out your image and slip it into the frame.

Add a ribbon, jump ring, or cording, and attach your charms to whatever you like.
My favorite way to use these framed Halloween charms is to add them to bookmarks, and I’ve got a new one in the works that’s coming soon.
For a slightly larger frame, attach a magnet to the back and use it to hold your Halloween party invites on your fridge.
How eerily extra!
Until next time – stay spooky.
